Chief Anti-Assistant

If you meet Amber, there’s a very good chance you’ll meet Stevie too. If dogs are allowed, Stevie will be there. Stevie is Amber’s black Labrador and a very enthusiastic member of the iCan Support Solutions team. Her official role is Chief Anti-Assistant — because when Amber asks her to do something, Stevie has a remarkable talent for doing the exact opposite. “Come here.” Walks away.
“Stay there.” Follows you.
“Don’t touch that.” Already touching it.
Stevie firmly believes that everything is requires her assistance. Meetings, visitors, deliveries, paperwork, phone calls — if something is happening, Stevie needs to know about it, supervise it and preferably be directly in the middle of it. She takes particular pride in welcoming visitors, investigating anything new, making sure Amber is never left unsupervised and conducting very thorough inspections of anything that may possibly contain food. Stevie may not understand the NDIS, but she understands people, snacks and the importance of being included in absolutely everything. She may not be the assistant Amber asked for, but she is definitely the assistant Amber got.
