Amber Knox
CEO
With more than 30 years of experience across the disability sector, Amber brings a unique combination of executive leadership, operational expertise, NDIS knowledge, and lived experience.
Throughout her career, Amber has successfully led and managed a broad range of disability services, including Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), Day Programs, Disability Employment Services (DES), Australian Disability Enterprises (ADE), Occupational Therapy teams, Behaviour Support teams, and services supporting people with complex and high-intensity support needs.
Her extensive experience spans working with participants living with intellectual disability, autism, psychosocial disability, acquired brain injury, physical disability, behaviours of concern, and complex health and support requirements. She has built a reputation for delivering practical solutions, maintaining high service standards, and ensuring participants remain at the centre of every decision.
Amber’s expertise extends beyond service delivery. She spent four years with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) as a Senior Delegate, where she became a recognised subject matter expert in several specialised areas of the NDIS, including:
- Supported Independent Living (SIL)
- Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
- Assistive Technology (AT)
- Home Modifications (HM)
- Disability-Related Health Supports
- Complex participant support needs
- High-cost funding and support decisions
This experience provided Amber with an in-depth understanding of NDIS legislation, funding frameworks, operational guidelines, and the challenges participants face when navigating the Scheme.
What truly distinguishes Amber is her lived experience.
As an NDIS participant herself, she understands firsthand the importance of having the right supports, receiving quality services, and being treated with dignity, respect, and genuine care.
Having personally navigated the NDIS, built her own Specialist Disability Accommodation home, and operated as her own registered NDIS SDA provider, Amber brings a level of insight that few professionals in the sector can offer.
Amber established iCan Support Solutions after years of witnessing a disconnect between what participants were promised and what they often received. She became increasingly concerned that participant outcomes were sometimes overshadowed by organisational priorities and believed there was a need for services built on transparency, accountability, and genuine commitment to the people being supported.
That vision remains the foundation of iCan Support Solutions today.
Amber is passionate about ethical practice and believes participants deserve providers who are honest, reliable, and committed to delivering on their promises. Her approach is built on integrity, collaboration, and a genuine desire to help people achieve their goals and live the life they choose.
Through iCan Support Solutions, Amber combines decades of sector experience, specialist NDIS knowledge, and lived experience to provide services that are practical, person-centred, and focused on achieving meaningful outcomes.
Participants, families, Support Coordinators, and providers who work with Amber value her straightforward advice, extensive expertise, and unwavering commitment to doing what is right for the people she supports.
